The Season of Lent is one of the most misunderstood times of the Church Year. The central theme is preparation for the sacred Triduum, the three holiest days of the year during which the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus is celebrated. The best preparation for these days is metanoia: the change of heart Christians desire striving to live out the faith they interiorly profess, remembering Paul's words to the Romans. He wrote that we are to believe in our hearts and profess with our lips, that Jesus Christ is Lord. The simple decorations of this season indicate the simplicity of our journey to the Lord.
