The Sacrament of Baptism

In the Sacrament of Baptism, the Church welcomes our newest and youngest members of the parish community. Baptisms take place four times each month: on the second Sunday of each month at the 9:30am English Mass and the 11:00am Spanish Mass, as well as on the fourth Sunday of each month at 1:00pm. in English and on the fourth Saturday of month at 5:15pm in Spanish.

A special preparatory class is offered to parents who wish to have their child baptized. This class focuses on the Sacrament of Baptism, and the roles and responsibilities of the parents and community which welcomes the child. This class takes place in English on the Friday before the fourth Sunday of the month at 7:30pm and in Spanish on the fourth Sunday of the month after the 11:00am Mass. Only one parent is required to attend but both are encouraged as well as godparents and grandparents who would like to learn about the sacrament of Baptism. The class lasts about 60-90 minutes. The catechetical sessions in English are held in Berg Hall. Please use the Fourteenth Avenue entrance. The classes in Spanish are offered in the Latin American Office.

Parents must be registered parishioners for at least three months prior to their child's baptism. Baptismal sponsors are required to have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Adults wishing to join the Catholic faith are welcomed through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Contact the Religious Education office to register.
